Moorside Primary Introduction

The school aims to value and foster the intellectual achievements of each child, so enabling each one to fulfil their academic potential.

We seek to create an environment in which children will strive to discover and develop their capabilities and to lay the foundations of a healthy lifestyle.

We seek to promote an ethos within the school in which each individual feels valued and respected and is encouraged to make a positive contribution to home, school and the community.

Brief

The first communication between Moorside and Bridge Eco Classrooms was made via email, the school requested a site visit to price and spec an Eco Classrooms, to provide an additional learning facility, the Eco Classroom was to include an external veranda and staircase.

The school also requested the building to have a basic storage/kitchen area along with mixed toilets (one toilet to be disabled accessible)

Bridge Eco Classrooms were to quote for full connection to services, Electric, water and drainage, and would include a full heating and cooling air conditioning unit in the quotation.

As always Bridge Eco classrooms would design the building to suit the client’s requirements and return the quotation along with a designed specification for the school to view.

Solution

Bridge Eco Classroom designed the exact building the customer specified.  The building was manufactured from Structural Insulated Panels, with 125mm panels for walls and 175mm for the floor and ceiling, which meet the current building regulations.

The external cladding was Western Red Cedar as originally specified.  As the building would conform to building control, Aluminium double doors to the front elevation we supplied and fitted along with UPVC anthracite grey fixed and opening windows.

Internally the classroom was plasterboard and skim to all walls and ceiling.

The internal floor finish was commercial graded laminate flooring with skirting board to suit.

Our electrical package consisted of down lights to provide plenty of light, power sockets and consumer unit.

To conform to building regulations an air conditioning for heating and cooling unit was installed throughout the structure.

To the front elevation the structure was complete with a Thermowood veranda, staircase and painted anthracite grey hand rail to match the building.
