St Ambrose Primary School

St Ambrose Primary – Introduction

St Ambrose Preparatory School is a very successful, Independent, Catholic boys’ school, providing a first class education which enables the boys to become lifelong learners. This is achieved by a rich and diverse curriculum which caters for all the boys’ talents. As a Catholic school all boys are encouraged to follow the Catholic Ethos however we warmly welcome boys from other faiths.

The school embodies a happy, secure and friendly environment where the boys are encouraged to become independent learners, enabling them to succeed both academically and socially.

Our website provides you with a good insight into the school, but a personal visit is key as you will be able to see first-hand how St Ambrose Prep achieves its aims.

Headmaster

Brief

Contact was first made with Frank Driscoll, the head teacher at St Ambrose Prep School back in 2016.  Frank was interested in manufacturing an additional outdoor space to provide additional learning for the school

The structure would be standalone to the existing building and would need to accommodate approx. 32 children.

An appointment was made for Paul to visit and discuss the finer details with Frank, what would be required internally i.e. toilets/kitchen area.

Following the meeting it was agreed planning permission would be required.  Our planning consultant was instructed to carry this out.  Drawings and elevations were provided by our CAD consultant

Planning permission was granted and order placed approx. 8 weeks later.

Solution

Excavation works begun for the foundation contractors to be instructed.  A Swift foundation system was found to be the best solution for this build.

The overall Classroom was to measure 17m x 7m and would be manufactured using SIP Panels (Structural Insulated Panels), which conform to building regulations, 125mm SIPS were used in the floor and walls, with 175mm SIPS used for the roof structure.

Externally the classroom was clad with Western Red Cedar.  One obvious advantage of cedar cladding is that it is a natural product and a sustainable product. This means that if you use it you are protecting the environment and reducing the carbon footprint of your building.

Our eco classrooms come complete with Aluminium double doors, with an option of bi-fold.  For this build we supplied double doors.  UPVC windows installed in our standard anthracite grey colour to match the powder coated aluminium doors.

Standard roofing would be box profile roof sheets, with a UPVC guttering system to the rear.

As standard all classrooms are finished internally with plasterboard skim finish to all walls and ceilings.  Internal decoration can be included at an additional cost.

Flooring options are commercial grade flooring, commercial grade carpet tiles, with option of vinyl to the kitchen and bathroom areas.

Our standard electrical package consist of downlights, quantity is appropriate for the size of the building, power sockets, again this is discussed prior to installation to ensure the school are happy with the quantity.  Heating is discussed prior to installation, and in most cases to conform to building control, SBEM cal’cs along with Air conditioning is required.  Air conditioning is the preferred solution and was installed at St Ambrose.

A stunning Classroom manufactured at St Ambrose, we wish the school and children many of happy years in their new facility.
